WINGEN HEIGHTS TOPS AGAIN
The matric class of 2011 has done the school proud once again by achieving outstanding results.
The principal ,Mr. Gordon Govender was elated when the results were announced and informed that four students achieved SEVEN DISTINCTIONS each and the quality of passes was excellent.
The school achieved an overall pass of 98.39.% with 60 % of the 188 candidates achieving a bachelors pass. Top achiever Talya Roopan was placed 2nd in Umlazi District and was invited to the Special Awards Ceremony held at the ICC on Wednesday with her parents and representatives from School.
Mr Govender attributed much of the success to the dedication and commitment of the students and teachers at school as well as the ongoing support of parents and SGB who played such a pivotal role. The additional tuition offered by teachers after school hours and over the weekends and holidays also contributed significantly to the improved results.
The fact that there were no disruptions this year also enabled schools to complete the syllabi on time and undertaking adequate revision and consolidation work with students.
He also commended the initiatives of the DOE and the educator unions in arranging revision programmes during week -ends and over the holidays.
Top achiever Talya Roopan will be studying Mechanical Engineering this year.
Lynton Govender will also be studying Mech Engineering this year.
Kelen Pillay will be studying Chemical Engineering this year and
Sriya Naidoo will be studying Pharmacy.
The school management and staff and SFGB extends its best wishes to all matriculants in the province and wish them well in their future endeavours.
According to Mr . Gordon Govender (Pro :South African Principals’ Assoc. Chatsworth) , schools in the Chatsworth region again produced highly commendable results with most schools achieving over 90%. This was especially significant given that many of the schools face several challenges and are able to garner support and assistance to produce the credible results. SAPA Chatsworth compliments the management, staff and students at these schools for their sterling efforts and outstanding results.
